Using vellum to add some interest to your cards

Hello again friends!

I'm back again on the blog with some ideas to use vellum. I must admit it's hard for me not to use vellum in my designs. I'm a huge fan of that soft, subtle texture it adds to any design so today I want to focus on this product using both the Fluttering Butterflies Stamp set and the Artsy Floral Stamp set from Pinkfresh Studio Artsy Floral release.

The Slim Lacy Edgers die set has always been a favorite of mine and today Iwanted to use one of the three dies from this set to create a rainbow of layers.

I started out my designs by cutting out a bunch of strips of white cardstock. Next up I inked up all these strips with Atlantis, Paradise, Turquoise, Waterfall, Grassy Knoll, Sweet Mustard, Sunkissed and Sparkling Rose inks.  Once I die cut all these pieces with one of the Lacy Edgers die set I stacked all the die cut pieces and glued them.

I used the new Notched Corner Frames die set to frame my rainbow pieces and adhered this whole piece to a panel I had dry embossed with the Quadrant Backdrop Hot foil.

To add some interest to my design I white heat embossed the new Fluttering Butterfly stamp and colored the leaves of this set with the coordinating stencils using almost all the colors I had used for the lacy layers: Turquoise, Waterfall, Grassy Knoll, Sweet Mustard, Sunkissed, Mimosa and Sparkling Rose.

Finally I white heat embossed the new Sakura Stamp onto vellum and added these vellum branches and the colorful leaves under the sentiment. I really like the effect of these additional layers of vellum.

For my next project I adhered my lacy layers onto some circles. For this layers I used: Paradise, Turquoise, Sky Blue, Sweet Mustard, Cherry Blossom and Peony

I added the Stitched Scalloped Circles on top of these circles and foam mounted them diagonally onto a side folding A2 note card.

To create more interest on the background I tucked some vellum flowers and leaves clusters I had white heat embossed on vellum with the Berries and Blossoms cling stamp.

Lastly I added a butterfly, also from the Fluttering Butterfly stamp set, and colored with Waterfall, Turquoise and Paradise. The sentiment is also from the Sakura Stamp set.

For my last project I framed the lacy layers with the Nested Arched dies:

I started creating a background for the base of the card applying white textured paste onto one of the layers of the Geometric Tile Stencil.

I arranged the lacy layers under the arch frame. I colored these layers using: Paradise, Turquoise, Waterfall, Sky Blue, Grassy knoll, Citron, Sunkissed and Sparkling Rose.

I also white heat embossed on vellum the Artsy Floral Stamp set and placed a cluster of these flowers under the sentiment.

I hope these ideas inspire you to create using vellum.

Thank you so much for stopping by and happy crafting!

Raquel
